Sims 2 Unable to display at all!?

I just purchased The Sims 2 Double Deluxe. I have a nVidia Geforce 6200 AGP card, and my resolution is set to 1024x780. However, when I try to run the game, my display goes black, and I am told to switch to that resolution... even though it's already set. Does anybody have any ideas?
