Does anyone know this film?

Sorry very vague I watched it possibly in the 1980's may have been a TV program or movie I think it was set a school and it was about the a ghost somehow connected to the music department or linked to a book in the library or something. I know the main kid in it was a boy in his mid teens. The ghost may have been of Beethoven/Mozart or possibly just a teacher but really think it was a composer though have no idea whether the ghost makes an apperance or if its just a scholl myth. I remeber one scene where the kid is standing outside a building that looks like a large catherdral but could have been the school PLEASE HELP ITS DRIVING ME NUTS. Thank you : )
